When making unarmed strikes, your attacks count as piercing weapons as well as bludgeoning weapons. This allows you to avoid the penalties for using bludgeoning weapons underwater when making unarmed strikes.

Without a freedom of movement effect, you take a -2 penalty on attacks with bludgeoning weapons and deal only half normal damage.
