The commoner is the class for every joe schmoe npc your come across that doesn't have an actual class level. You can play this I guess, but there's no abilities or skills associated with them and would not be the most fun in my opinion. Why cast spells when you can be a cheesemaker abducted by a crazy sorcerer?

Role: Utility

Characteristics: NPC class for common people, no real abilities or skills

The Commoner has the following game statistics.

Abilities: Constitution for surviving I guess, Dex for further survivability

Alignment: Any

Hit Die: d4

Starting Gold: 5d4

Class Skills

The Commoner's class skills are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Jump (Str), Listen (Wis), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Search (Int), Spot (Wis), Swim (Str), and Use Rope (Dex)

Skill Points at 1st Level: (2 + Int modifier) × 4

Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 2 + Int modifier
