Summary



Figmentists are illusion focused spellcasters focused on the figment subschool of illusions. A figment spell creates a false sensation. Those who perceive the figment perceive the same thing, not their own slightly different versions of the figment. (It is not a personalized mental impression.) Figments cannot make something seem to be something else. A figment that includes audible effects cannot duplicate intelligible speech unless the spell description specifically says it can. If intelligible speech is possible, it must be in a language you can speak. If you try to duplicate a language you cannot speak, the image produces gibberish. Likewise, you cannot make a visual copy of something unless you know what it looks like.

Because figments and glamers (see below) are unreal, they cannot produce real effects the way that other types of illusions can. They cannot cause damage to objects or creatures, support weight, provide nutrition, or provide protection from the elements. Consequently, these spells are useful for confounding or delaying foes, but useless for attacking them directly. So these illusionists are masters of misdirection and are going to obscure the pit trap before leading someone to fall into it.

Abilities: Whatever your casting stat had been to augment the dc to disbelieve your illusions, and Dexterity and Constitution to augment your AC and boost HP to be a little bit less squishy/

The Figmentist's class skills are Alchemy (Int), Bluff (Cha), Concentration (Con), Craft (any) (Int), Knowledge (all skills, taken individually, Int), Listen (Wis), Profession (Wis), Scry (Int), Search (Int), Spellcraft (Int), and Spot (Wis)

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Figmentist.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Figmentist is proficient with whatever they were already proficient with prior to taking levels in this class.

Spells: When a figmentist gains a level the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before he added the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (improved chance of controlling or rebuking undead, metamagic or item creation feats and so on.) This essentially means that he adds the level of figmentist to the level of any other arcane spellcasting class the character has, then determines spells per day, spells known, and caster level accordingly.

Bonus Feat: At 1st level the figmentist gains a bonus feat. In addition, the figmentist gains an additional bonus feat at 5th and 10th levels. These bonus feats must be drawn from the following list: Augment Illusion, Enlarge Spell, Extend Spell, Heighten Spell, Illusion Focus, Illusory Insight, Imbue Illusion, Quicken Spell, Silent Spell, Skill Focus (Concentration), Split Concentration, Spell Mimicry, Still Spell, and Tactile Illusion. Some of the bonus feats cannot be acquired until the figmentist has gained one or more prerequisite feats.

Inherent SpellSp: The figmentist automatically knows a single figment spell for each level of spells he has access to. This does not count against a caster's known spells.

Spontaneous CastingSp: A figmentist can choose to lose a prepared spell in order to cast a figment that he knows of the same or lower level. If linking metamagic feats to this spell it takes a full round to cast.

Hasten FigmentSu: At 3rd level the figmentist gains the ability to cast a figment as a move equivalent action once per day. The hastened figment must have a normal casting time of 1 action. The figmentist gains the ability to hasten two figments per day at 6th level and three figments at 9th level. Hastened figments suffer a -1 to the DCs on their Will saves to disbelieve the illusion.
