He Who Guards the Road Less Travelled
"Yeah they don't remember what happened once they hit the crossroad. Must have had a hell of a time with Will though. Never seen so many empty ale tankards."
Whisper Will, the baying dog, the light far off, the man in the long black cloak, is the god of crossroads. On many crossroads one will find a leashed dog, called Will, in honor of Whisper Will. Most travelers will offer the dog a morsel of food and so ask Whisper Will to lead them in the direction they seek. He's a god with multiple different forms that he can seemingly take. One of the less charitable is the Will o' Wisp. He's purportedly the creator of the devilish undead creatures that lead adventurers asunder. Perhaps a weird purity test by his deific standards or some practical joke that turns deadly, no one really knows. Should people encounter him in this form it'll be less than favorable. Another his forms the black dog, often tied to a crossroad post, an observer who can point the adventuring group or people in general towards where they need to go if supplicated. If mistreated fear when you encounter the third form, the man in the long black cloak. A mysterious dark skinned figure wielding some sort of stringed instrument that loves a game or contest of skill and betting. Should you refuse? The curse of the crossroads shall fall upon you and you will be forever cursed to wander the road, wherever it may lead. The village of Will's Crossing in southern Vorovia, the main above ground agricultural center was said to have been blessed by Will after a particularly heated contest between him and Alberic, a local farmhand back in centuries past. The town has revered him since and relative good fortune has sprung from the ground. Will is Chaotic, to what level of good and evil seems to flip at the drop of a hat or a turn in the road. His holy symbol is a baying dog.
